Tehsil Municipal Administration Bhalwal


The Company was incorporated in 1964 as a public company listed on all the Stock Exchanges of Pakistan for setting up of a plant for manufacture of white sugar, in the province of Punjab. The plant went into production in 1966 with a daily crushing capacity of 1,500 MT of sugar cane, which has since been raised to 4,000 MT per day in 2002. Further extension to 9,000 TCD has been done now.

An Alcohol Distillery of French origin was added during 1986 with a production capacity of 50,000 litres/day in 2002. Another facility with an option to provide either 30,000 LPD Industrial of fuel Grade Ethanol was added in 2002. A new Fuel Ethanol plant of 100,000 LPD, based on Molecular Sieve technology has been added in 2005.

An Effluent Treatment Plant employing the Canadian technology of ABV Bio-Gas reactors has been installed since 1997, to use its bio-degradable waste water as a renewable source of energy to replace 70% of fuel oil / natural gas, for generation of process steam. This has also enabled the Company to fulfill its obligation towards reducing the environmental pollution.


            The area of Sub-division and its surroundings produce 52% of citrus of the province of Punjab. Moreover the surrounding area is rich in coal to meet the energy needs. Therefore, the government is developing an Industrial Estate in Bhalwal to help the Industry in the area. Initial estimates suggested around 280 new industrial units will be established and industrial estate will provide employment to 60,000 people directly and 15,000 indirectly and provide tax revenue es of around 500 million to government exchequer.


            The irrigation Workshop Bhalwal set up in 1955 for the fabrication and installation of gates and gearing system of Hydraulic structure of Taunsa Barrage. Since then it has been played very prominent role in National Development Programme.  After completion of Taunsa Barrage the workshop was entrusted with work of manufacturing and installation of Hydraulic Structure of Mechanical components of various headwork, Barrages, Canal regulators and distributaries of irrigation Department in all over the Country.

            The Irrigation Workshop Division Bhalwal under take planning, designing, fabrication and installation of gates, hoisting machinery and other infrastructure not only for Irrigation Punjab but also same functions for other provinces of the Country, as well as render advice on the repair and renovation of gates equipment and hoisting machinery of barrages and canal regulators. This division also operated and maintained of Tube Wells of defunct scrap-I and Scrap-IV circle. This workshop having total strength of 200 employees including Officers / Officials who residing in the colonies of Workshop.
